I AM LOOKING FOR MORE VIRTUAL ADOPTERS Why am I with a rescue group? Tucker ended up in rescue after he had been bounced through numerous homes. At such a young age, Tucker had lived in four different environments. First in his initial home from puppyhood until his owner encountered family issues that resulted in Tucker being tied up outside at another home. Tucker broke free and then ended up in a shelter. His original owner got the phone call from the shelter and came and picked him up. A few weeks later, the owner saw an older lady walking her Australian shepherds, he offered for her to buy Tucker. Luckily this turned out to be a good Samaritan. She bought Tucker from him and brought him home. Tucker was tense, timid and uncertain upon arrival at his next home. He did growl and put on a show the first night with his new family. After that he morphed into a big sweet cuddle bug. Unfortunately, they knew they did noy have room to keep Tucker. They reached out to us and we said yes. Tucker was placed in a foster from here. Tucker went to an experienced owner who had several other dogs. We quickly learned lots about Tucker. Tucker is reactive to new people, especially in his home. He loves his people once he bonds but visitors are not apart of his perfect world. Tucker needs a stable home to thrive, an adopter needs to be experienced to handle him. He is a big boy on top of his reactive behavior, this can be a lot to manage with no experience. Tucker is also reactive to bikers, joggers, etc in public settings. Tucker is not a dog that needs to go out in public. He simply wants to be home with his person. Tuckers home would have to be in a rural area with not much traffic, think farm land with a nice secure fence. Tucker does awesome with about 5 out of 10 dogs he meets. He would prefer a female around his age with a decent tolerance to an active dog. Tucker can be the most loving and docile dog in the right environment. In the wrong environment, Tucker is a huge bite risk. We have taken in consideration this as Tucker joins our SOS program. Tucker does have a bite history and we now know Tucker needs an extra special home for him to thrive. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.
