About this Dog
Meet Wilson. This adorable Chihuahua puppy was being mistreated by some kids in his home who were not respectful of his tiny size or age. He was surrendered by his family to a local groomer who reached out to Worthy Dog for help, and we gladly took him in. Wilson was fortunate to get a wonderful, nurturing foster home to give him the security, structure, and consistent routine that all puppies need. He's currently living with a retired foster mom and dad, and three older dog companions that he follows and learns from. There is also a kitty in the home he likes to chase, and she, in turn, corrects him. He has good doggie energy, and the family dogs took to him right away and welcomed him into their pack. Wilson primarily hangs out with the youngest dog, Charlie, who is 5 or 6 yrs old. The others are not interested in playing, and he respects their wishes. As a young active dog, Wilson would do best with another playful pup companion in his new home. When he first came to his foster home, Wilson was pretty shy but has now fully warmed up and loves to be held. His favorite place is with his foster dad on the couch, curled up with his toys as they nap or watch TV. He also really enjoys chasing tennis balls and gathering his toys to play. Wilson still has puppy energy that comes in spurts, but he enjoys naps too. His favorite activities include throwing his toys around or chasing Charlie in the yard. Wilson is crate trained and mostly housetrained, but his foster family doesn't fully trust him as he's still a young pup in training. When they leave home, Wilson stays in his crate with his toys, and they make sure he gets a potty break before they leave. He is very good and does not have accidents in his crate. At night, he sleeps in the crate next to his foster parent's bed, and they put a big towel over his crate to make him feel secure. He sleeps soundly through the night until he gets up at 6:30 or 7 am. Once he's up, he needs to be taken outside right away before mealtime. Wilson was brand new to leash walking, but his foster parents have been walking him a few times a day, so he's getting lots of practice. He has now started going potty on leash and has met many of the neighbors. He's getting more comfortable every day, and recently met a family with a nine-year-old girl, and Wilson was enamored with the whole family. He let the little girl pet him for a good five minutes, and enjoyed her attention. We are happy to see that Wilson has moved on from his life with some not-so-loving kids, and was very engaging with the little girl. Apply today!
