About this Cat
Rescued from the outdoors, Elmer is a friendly fellow grateful to now be living the indoor-only lifestyle. Life outdoors was not going too well. He was being watched and fed by caring people, but they knew they had to do more when they saw he had been injured. It turned out that Elmer had a broken leg, and the vet hospital found that several toes had previously been broken also. Fortunately, another FIV+ cat already in Cat Shack foster care was in need of a buddy, so Elmer was able to move right in.Elmer's leg healed beautifully and he is a happy camper! In fact, although he was estimated to be 7 years old at the time of his rescue in April 2024, this goofy boy seems to have turned back into a kitten! He entertains himself endlessly pushing his collection of toy balls around on the floor and chasing after them with great delight, He also has a ball in a round track which he gives a work out to multiple times a day! Although somewhat shy at first, Elmer warmed up to his foster Mom and now craves loving attention. He can be picked up and held and excels at rubbing up against his foster Mom's legs. Most of all, he absolutely loves a vigorous head/ear/neck massage. Elmer and his room mate lived together quite peacefully but the other cat had no interest in any real interaction with Elmer and has since been adopted. Elmer will do very well as an only cat but would probably be quite happy to have an FIV+ housemate who does want to be a real buddy to him.Elmer has used his litter box perfectly right from the start and is neutered, fully vaccinated and negative for feline leukemia. He will occasionally give a light nip or strike out with a paw, so is not recommended for a home with young children. But if you are looking for a companion who will be both affectionate and entertaining, Elmer may be just the fellow for you!

Please begin the process of claiming Elmer (FIV+)'s contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Elmer (FIV+) was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Elmer (FIV+)’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Elmer (FIV+)’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Elmer (FIV+)’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
