About this Cat
Meet Miss Leilani! She was born around April 2019 and came to LCCR when her owner died and her family didn't want to take care of her. Sadly, we see this happen a lot. Leilani was pretty shut down after coming to her first foster home, hiding in the closet. She would come out for pets and food, but back into the closet she would go. But soon she learned to trust again. While she will retreat for the comfort of a closet when there are sudden loud noises, she spends her time lounging on the bed in the foster room. I mean, who wouldn't want to sleep on a soft mattress compared to a dark corner on a hard floor? Leilani might be one of the most gentle cats known to man. She is so gentle she moves in slow motion! She will jump onto your lap and beg you for pets, and you won't mind giving them to her because her fur is silky smooth. She also has two little symmetrical nose freckles. She won't necessarily sleep next to you, preferring to keep to the bottom of the bed, but it's not uncommon to wake up in the middle of the night and find her laying on top of your chest, purring. She loves toys, too, particularly those of on the end of a wand. She gets upset, though, when she has to share a toy with another cat, as she wants all the action to herself. Leilani apparently lived with other cats at her owners home, but she doesn't seem too fond of them in her foster home. She is sharing the room with another foster cat who just "speaks in hisses" so it's possible Leilani is just getting the wrong impression. But I suspect she would coexist just fine with another cat in a larger house where the other cat won't bother her. Leiliani didn't appreciate the resident dog smelling her business the first time they met, but after one quick swipe from her, the dog understood his place, and they coexist just fine with each other (see the picture). A dog who minds his manners would be fine for Leilani. Young kids I think might drive her into the closet because of energy and noise, but older kids would be okay for her too. Leilani is currently living in a foster home in New Cumberland. Her adoption donation is $75 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.
