About this Dog

Hello, This is Polo and is looking for his forever safe and loving home.

He is a 4-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix and I have had him since he was about 4 months old.

Polo has been deeply loved, and making this decision is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.

Due to serious medical and physical limitations, I am no longer able to provide Polo with the care and exercise he needs.

He is a strong dog who pulls hard on walks, and I am physically unable to safely handle him anymore. I also live in a small apartment, which is not the environment he deserves.

As much as I love him, I know he deserves more than I can give him now, and I want to give him the opportunity to have a better life.

Polo would thrive best in an adult-only home, as he has never been around children. He would also do best in a home with a large, securely fenced yard where he can run, play, and simply enjoy being a dog.

He absolutely loves water, sprinklers, playing fetch, lounging with me, and sometimes just doing his own thing. He loves soft music, watching TV with me especially loves watching dog cartoons. Lol

He has so much potential to make someone a wonderful companion.

He is so goofy and fun to be around with and has so much energy. He loves his treats and does work well having a yummy treat waiting for him. He will shake your hand and give you " Kissy Kissy" if you ask for one. 🙂

Polo can be reactive toward unfamiliar people especially coming towards us but he's scared and just hus way of trying to protect me. At times he can be reactive to some dogs as he's curious since he's never been around many animals at all.

It has just been him and I, and he would benefit from someone who has experience with larger dogs and is willing to continue working with him.

He is not neutered, and I want to be completely honest about his needs because my goal is to find him the right home where he can succeed.

I have exhausted every resource I have been able to find in the Portland metro area. I have contacted shelters, posted on social media, and reached out to numerous organizations asking for help and only to be told that euthanasia was the only realistic option because there was no future for him and no one would want him.

Hearing those words completely shattered my heart. I have been left feeling devastated and hopeless. I cannot give up on Polo without trying every possible avenue to find him the loving home he deserves.

I am willing to drive Polo anywhere in the state of Oregon if it means he has a chance at a happy life with the right family.

If there is any way you can help, or if you know of any rescue or individual who may be willing to give Polo a chance, I would be forever grateful.

I truly do not want euthanasia to be his only option. He has been my best friend since he was a tiny puppy and all I want is for him to have the opportunity to live the life he deserves with someone who can give him what I no longer can.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my. With sincere gratitude,

Martha

How will Polo receive the contribution?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Polo, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Polo's contribution here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Polo was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Polo’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Polo’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Polo’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
