About this Dog
This is Tucker, he is in desperate need of a new home. My disabled mother has had some devastating health news and can no longer live on her own or care for her pets. The oldest two and my mom are moving in with me in TN. This is a very difficult situation for my mom who LOVES all her pets so much.
He is 6 years old and has only really ever been around my mother and grandmother, who was in her late 80s, consistently. I think he is an Australian shepherd mix, but who knows. He is 65-75 lbs, with long black hair and his face is about table height. Tucker has A LOT of potential if someone is willing to work with him, but he is very scared of new things and has led a pretty small quiet life so far. Especially the last few months, as my mother's health worsened. He will bark a lot with new people and is scared to go outside alone, he will use a potty pad, out of necessity if he has to. Not ideal as he is a bigger dog. He does really well with cats, older children(7+ ), and women. He is far more nervous around men just because he hasnt been around them much.
Over the last few weeks, Tucker has been around tons of new people and changes as he hasn't seen his mom in over 2 weeks and he has accepted these changes!
He still gets scared but warms up quicker and quicker, he even walked down the street on a leash after I had his brother dog demonstrate. He needs consistency, training and for someone to continue to expose him to new things kindly. He also needs regular vet care which he hasn't received in a few years.
My worry is that if Tucker were surrendered to animal control that he would never have the chance to continue to grow, because he would freak out terribly and show poorly in that environment.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and TUCKER was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, TUCKER’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the TUCKER’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, TUCKER’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
