About this Dog
Meet Ruger – Our Resilient, Tri-Pawed Sweetheart Beagle/Boxer/German Shepherd mix | 4 years old | 55 lbs | Special Needs Ruger arrived at the shelter on June 30th, and just one week later, he underwent a life-changing leg amputation on July 7th, 2025. Through it all, he has shown nothing but courage, trust, and a heart full of love. This handsome boy is a mix of beagle, boxer, and German shepherd—giving him a unique look and a personality that blends curiosity, affection, and loyalty. At about 4 years old and 55 pounds, Ruger is good with adults, children, and even cats, making him a gentle and adaptable companion. Ruger is a special needs dog due to his recent amputation, but don’t tell him that—he’s adjusting quickly and remains eager to love and be loved. Our vet feels that he would do best in a single pet home. He’s up to date on vaccinations and tested negative for Lyme disease. Ruger does need some help with house training. With patience, consistency, and a little grace, this sweet soul will catch on. Ruger is looking for a calm, supportive home that can offer him the guidance he needs as he continues to heal and adapt. He has so much love to give—and he deserves someone who sees his three legs and knows that his heart is still whole. Could you be the one to give Ruger the second chance he’s been waiting for? Adopt Ruger and Receive Ruger's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Ruger's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Ruger's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Ruger, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Ruger's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Ruger was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Ruger’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Ruger’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Ruger’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
