About this Cat
In the summer of 2018, a small frail kitten showed up in Tulip garden asking for food, of which I eagarly gave her. She ate as if she'd not eaten for a while. I knew that she was cared for by an owner because she had a collar around her neck. Unfortunately, the collar had no name nor phone/address, so I could not locate her owner. However, I posted her picture and my contact information at all the local stores in my neiborhood, hoping to get a response, but to no avail. Finally, I fondly kept her as my own. I named her Carmelita because it is a name for girls that has its root in Hebrew. The meaning of Carmelita is “garden, orchard” and it is a variant form of Carmen or Carmel (Hebrew)..Carmelita is most definitely "rambunctious", but not in a negtive way. She is noisy (she talks a lot), active, playful (especially with other cats) and enegetic. Moreover, Carmelita enjoys playing with other cats (loves to run up and down stairs. She is not a snuggle cat, unless she is sleeping beside you. Ideal new home would be a small home with a basement (she loves basements) and a person(s) who has maybe one other playful cat; preferably a girl, but it can be a boy. Carmelita loves attention and to have her head and stomach rubbed. When you talk to Carmelita, she talks back with a continuous "meow". In summary, I pray the the new family will love and appreciate her, as I have been so previleged to know her over the years. How will Carmelita receive the contribution?

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Carmelita was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Carmelita’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Carmelita’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Carmelita’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
