About this Dog
ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED! Meet TROOPER, a big beautiful teddy bear of a dog looking for a home. He is a Heinz 57 varieties-type mixed breed boy, about 7 years old and currently 59 pounds but should weigh around 50 pounds. Trooper is an absolute love. His tail never stops wagging. He was adopted from SDHR 5 years ago at the beginning of the pandemic but was recently returned to us through no fault of his own. We can't stress that last part enough, Trooper is a wonderful dog, his personality is like a ray of sunshine. Here's a little backstory on Trooper -- when he arrived back in 2020, we noticed he walked a little funny and discovered that Trooper had suffered significant injuries at some point in his young life. X-Rays revealed that BOTH of his rear femurs had been broken and he never received medical care. He was probably hit by a car. Left untreated the breaks healed badly and by the time he found his way to us the injuries were old and there was nothing we could do to repair the legs. Here's the good news, he has absolutely no issues navigating a normal life. He plays fetch and hops on furniture with no issues. Trooper just needs to slim down to protect his mobility over the long term. Trooper thrives on human attention and would be so happy to spend his time cuddled up on the sofa when he's not playing in the yard. He is housebroken, crate trained, fine with kids and other chill dogs. If you'd like to meet Trooper, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Trooper at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Adopt Trooper and Receive Trooper's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Trooper's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Trooper's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Trooper, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Trooper's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Trooper was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Trooper’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Trooper’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Trooper’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
