About this Dog
_________ B I O ______________ Name: Suriel Size: (Once fully grown) Large range: 61-100 lbs Adoption Donation: $250 (applicable sales tax included) Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip Suriel is a sweet girl dreaming of a family she can call her own ** Suriel has been diagnosed with Psychogenic Polydipsia. Psychogenic polydipsia involves drinking excessively with no apparent cause or reason. It means there is nothing actually systemically wrong with her, her blood work is normal and UTI has been ruled out. It is thought this condition can be behavioral in origin, and can be exacerbated by stress. We manage this by monitoring and limiting her water access. She should not have free access to water and should be limited to 30oz per day based on her weight (1 oz per pound per day), she is also on a cranberry supplement called Crananidin. She takes 1 a day. This can be purchased over the counter places like chewy, and is about $50 for 75 capsules. ** Due to chronic cherry in both her eyes, Suriel had her third eyelids removed. This should be monitored annually at her vet visits. Occasionally dogs without a third eyelid can develop dry eye, and may require a daily rewetting drop. Foster Home Feedback 04/15/2024 Foster Feedback: Suriel was able to spend a long weekend with us. She is such a sweet girl. She took direction from our dog-selective resident and easily co-mingled over the weekend. We enjoyed walks - Suriel proved to be a great walker however she did get easily distracted by new noises. She loved her walks to the park and enjoyed all of the attention from kids. Her favorite indoor activity is cuddling on the couch. Suriel was very treat motivated did great with her potty training. Monitoring her water was helpful in keeping her on a great path. She realized quickly which door we used to go out and even gave some queues when she was ready for a potty break. Suriel slept through the night and was quiet anytime she was kenneled. She did need reminders on which stuffies were hers and which belonged to the kids, but honestly don’t they all look the same? Suriel mostly left our cat alone, especially after the cat informed her that he’s not into playing. Suriel was such a fun and easy-going dog. If you’re looking for someone with a mix of cuddling and to enjoy the outdoors, put your app in. She’s right here. 03/21/2024 Foster Feedback: Suriel has still been doing amazing! Now that her eyes are fully healed, she’s been able to zip around with her foster siblings without worrying about her eye medications. With the nicer weather, she has really enjoyed zooming around the yard with the other dogs. She has been growing like a weed these past couple months! She has continued to do amazing in her kennel at night and has been improving on her potty training. She did have a bit of a regression when the cold snap hit, but she’s on the right track again! She benefits well from a consistent potty schedule. Suriel has been doing well on leash walks and loves to smell all the new scents she encounters. She also loves tagging along for car rides, and enjoys curling up on a heated seat when it's chilly out. Though she still has some learning to do, she has come very far with her manners! She still gets very excited and forgets them sometimes, but who wouldn’t get excited about cookies?? Most of all, Suriel loves her chew toys, lick mat, and snuggling up next to her people! Suriel can't wait to find her forever home! 01/21/2024 Foster Feedback: Suriel has been such a sweet, snuggly girl since we've had her and is nothing but wonderful. She has been doing absolutely fantastic in her kennel at night, and hasn't had a single accident in it since she came to us. Potty training goes well at home when she's out of her kennel - we take her out every 45-60 minutes or so, and she has been asking to go out more often. Suriel is recovering well from her bilateral cherry eye removal & spay, and hasn't lost a single drop of her spunk! Suriel loves to curl up on the couch with her people and foster siblings - two dogs and a cat. She takes the best naps and makes a great personal heater. Suriel & our resident animals play so well together! Our cat is very dog savvy, and likes to wrestle with Suriel, so older or less dog-savvy cats may not appreciate Suriel's style of kitty play. Suriel loves toys, and is so far very fond of the stuffed Bobo and parrot. Leash walking is a work in progress, as she does get a little stubborn at times, but for the most part, she walks on a leash well. She knows how to sit (but sometimes forgets if she's too excited) and is in the process of learning to lie down. Suriel would love to go to a family with another dog to play with, and someone to give her lots of snuggles and pets!
