About this Dog
My name is Tuna and I have been one of the most resilient girls that has been brought to the rescue. My journey has been long and is far from over. To put it simply, I was trapped by another rescue (Zoomies Funny Farm - check them out, they do great work) and then brought to CARA. Prior to being trapped, my life was full of chaos, sorrow and lacked consistency. I did not know what or where I was going to eat, I had litter after litter of puppies, I had to find shelter during inclement weather, and was shot at by humans (the pellets were found on radiographs). So it is safe to say that my life was so full of negativity and uncertainty, that it molded me to become extremely fearful of people and new environments. But my story isn't all sad. Little by little the humans at CARA gained my trust. They were patient, consistent and kind. It took a very long time but I got to a point where I allowed pets, and learned to walk on a leash. These basic skills were HUGE for me! Milestone after milestone I found myself not only welcoming the company of the humans here, but enjoying myself!! I love my belly rubs, and my walks. I am laid back, and housebroken. I am just the best chunky girl. I do however take a very long time to trust you, so anyone interested in possibly adopting me would have to visit the rescue for weeks before I could go home. I have also started (slow kill) heartworm treatment. The rescue decide to treat my heartworms slowly, rather than the typical faster method they use for all other dogs, due to the stress of going to the vet. I am still working on this being a positive experience for me, so for now I take my monthly heartworm prevention and eventually will hopefully test negative! I know I am not your typical rescue pup needing a home, but that little bit of extra effort will surely be worth it when you get to see my REAL personality. XOXO Tuna Fish Our adoption fees are: * Altered Dogs older than 1 year old $250 * Altered Dogs between 6 months to a year $275

Adopt Tuna and Receive Tuna's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Tuna's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Tuna's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Tuna, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Tuna's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Tuna was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Tuna’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Tuna’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Tuna’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
