About this Dog
Sirius was found in a field in Tennessee in 2020, and presumably is born early to mid 2020 according to his rescuers. A few months later we adopted him and he’s been with us since. Over time we learned that Sirius has a history of abuse, though no information about it was shared by his rescuers. We immediately noticed his aversion to men and children and assume that while he was in that field he was abused by the two demographics. We’ve found that he’s also aggressive towards other dogs. While we’ve tried for years to ease him into being near different people, he’s still hesitant and skittish towards anyone that’s not his primary owner. Sirius has a tendency to become aggressive when he feels even slightly uneasy, and he unfortunately has a history of bites. It’s always a fight to get him to a vet due to his aversion towards anything being too close to his skin (collars or harnesses), and he’s behind on his shots because of it. Last time I, primary owner, tried to coax him into a harness for the visit, I feared that he would lash out at me. Our solution has been to keep him in his crate due to the uneasiness our family feels, but that’s unfair to Sirius. I want to find him a home where he can thrive, but behavior training is too expensive for us and he has conditions he needs met, such as being the only pet in a home, a household of only 1-2 adults, and an owner that is well versed in taking care of a reactive aggressive dog with a history of abuse.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Sirius Black was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Sirius Black’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Sirius Black’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Sirius Black’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
