About this Dog
New foster notes, 2/21/24:Dixie is almost finished with her heartworm treatment and is doing well but isn't allowed to get excited or play too much for another couple of weeks. She's sweet but doesn't want anyone but me to take her to potty. She loves my great grandkids who are 2 years to 10 years old. She barks when anyone comes to the house but will stop after about 2 minutes when she starts feeling comfortable. She looks out the storm door at other dogs walking by and will bark. She is house trained and will stand in front of you and just look until you ask her if she wants to go potty. I'm trying to train her to get her leash. She knows different words like sit, come here, get your donut(toy), let's go, let's eat, and many more. She has never shown any hostile behavior, but she does have a very stubborn streak. If she wants to check out something, you can not divert her attention to listen to you. She does great left alone in the house and does not need to be crated. She listens well and loves my great grand children. She will tolerate other dogs but always on guard when they are around her. I don't know about cats but she tries to chase squirrels and deer. Foster notes, 1/3/24:Dixie is showing her personality more every day. She loves the toys she received from BAS in her Christmas stocking. She loves the squeaky toy donut, and wants me to throw it and she will bring it back. When first meeting a stranger, she will bark until they sit down. Then, she wants to sniff and wants you to rub her! I haven't had her around other animals. She will watch the dogs in our neighborhood, but does not bark at them, just looks! She is housetrained and has had no accidents. She is great on the leash, too, always watching me to know which way to go. I take her out about every 2 hours and she will pee every time. She sleeps on her doggie bed in my bedroom all night, and goes out around 7 A.M. on the leash. Dixie thinks she needs a treat every time she comes in from her walks! She does great unsupervised. I tell her I will be back in a minute and she understands that and will go lay on her bed or on the couch. She knows the commands, sit, down, give paw, give me kiss. Still working on other commands. Dixie has a short attention span and is energetic! My daughter plays with her to help with her energy. Dixie gets along with anybody once she gets used to them. (About 5 minutes or less)! Other notes:Dixie, hot pink is definitely your color! This shiny brown-eyed sweetheart was surrendered due to no fault of her own, so she is hoping to find a new home very soon. She is 3 years old, housetrained, crate trained, good with older kids, knows the sit command, walks well on leash, and is a cuddle bug. Her main quirks are that she doesn't like anyone messing with her toes or rear end (me either!), and tends to snarf down her food too fast. She's okay with dogs, but we don't know about cats. Dixie is a full figured girl at 46 lbs. and has the cutest speckled wrists! During a recent Dog Day Out, she enjoyed meeting new people, was loving and affectionate, walked well on leash (no or low amount of pulling), and did well with the car ride. If you'd like to meet Dixie, send us an email to [email protected] to be put in contact with her foster!

Adopt DIXIE and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, DIXIE's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is DIXIE's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the DIXIE, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming DIXIE's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and DIXIE was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, DIXIE’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the DIXIE’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, DIXIE’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
