About this Dog
Lexi is a playful, affectionate, and downright adorable 1 yr old, 14lb, Havanese/Shih Tzu mix who’s looking for her forever family! She’s the perfect mix of lap dog and goofball—she’ll snuggle up for pets and belly rubs, then bounce off for a game of fetch before curling right back up in your arms. Lexi is friendly with people and dogs alike. She’s a great playmate for pups who enjoy romping around, but might be a bit much for dogs who prefer their personal space. She respects boundaries, so if another dog says, “I’m done playing,” Lexi listens and walks away. She’s crate trained, sleeps well through the night, and is house-trained as long as she has access to a fenced yard. She’s still figuring out that potty time can also happen on a leash, so that’s a work in progress. Leash training is ongoing, and she’s making great strides! She does have a habit of door-darting, so she'll need a home that can help her stay safe and secure. Lexi can be a trip hazard, so she would not be a good fit for a senior citizen. Lexi bonds quickly with men and women, and her loving nature shines through in everything she does. She adores being petted, often flopping over to show you her belly (resistance is futile—she’s that cute). She’s also independent enough to entertain herself when needed, but would love to be included in all your daily adventures. One note: Lexi is a bit too interested in the resident cat, so a feline-free home might be best unless you’re an experienced dog-cat household. Lexi requires combing and regular grooming, for which she is calm and cooperative. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact [email protected]. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be at least 4 feet or higher with gaps no larger than 2 inches and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption fee: $500

Adopt Lexi and Receive Lexi's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Lexi's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Lexi's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Lexi, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Lexi's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Lexi was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Lexi’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Lexi’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Lexi’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
