Are you looking for a sweet, gentle dog who gets along well with other dogs and is one of the best mama dogs around? If so, Tootsie might be the perfect fit for you! Tootsie is a 2-year-old, 50-pound Labrador Retriever who will be ready to meet potential adopters and go to her forever home starting July 29th. On June 17th, Tootsie gave birth to an incredible litter of 13 puppies—and while we don’t know if it was her first, we do know it will be her last! Tootsie has done an amazing job caring for her puppies and has been wonderfully tolerant with the other dogs in her foster home. Even just three weeks after giving birth, she enjoys their company and doesn’t mind them being around her babies. Tootsie is still shy when meeting new people, so she will need a patient and understanding family willing to give her time to adjust, recover from weaning, and continue learning how to be an indoor dog. She seems to be housetrained, as she lets her foster know when she needs to go outside. We are unsure if she is crate trained at this time. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a sweet girl who’s already proven what a loving soul she has, Tootsie would love to meet you! The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age. **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Tootsie's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Tootsie was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Tootsie’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Tootsie’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Tootsie’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
