We are now looking for loving homes for our Persians. They are all approximately 8-10 years of age. Elf is a male white Persian and Jolly is a black male Persian. They came to us after their owner passed away. They were malnourished, dehydrated, and severely matted. Elf & Jolly were neutered yesterday and Jolly had 4 of his remaining teeth extracted. Applicants must have knowledge of the Persian Breed. Persian cats have varying incidences of health problems that may be genetic in nature. Although they are beautiful and sweet, Persians are prone to a number of potential health problems, most commonly related to their facial structure: Breathing difficulty or noisy breathing caused by constricted nostrils Dental malocclusions, meaning the teeth don’t mesh well together Excessive tearing Eye conditions such as cherry eye and entropion Heat sensitivity Polycystic kidney disease, for which a genetic test is available Predisposition to ringworm, a fungal infection Seborrhea oleosa, a skin condition that causes itchiness, redness and hair loss. Both Elf and Jolly do "sound" congested all the time. They have been on several medications to treat possible conditions such as upper respiratory diseases. These boys most likely have the narrowed nasal openings and canals..so while trying to push air through these really narrow airways it plugs up with mucous a lot easier which makes them sound congested.. At times they sound like snorts or snoring. They will need constant grooming and cleaning of their hind area and around eyes. They will need a diet that consists of mostly wet food as Jolly has only 4 teeth left. Elf and Jolly will need a home with NO children under the age of 16. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Elf & Jolly- Bonded was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Elf & Jolly- Bonded’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Elf & Jolly- Bonded’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Elf & Jolly- Bonded’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
