Coming into our care with his siblings when the owner who had raised them so lovingly for all of their lives, was without options - it's understandable that they felt dislocated and uneasy. Fear is a powerful thing and this elegantly, tuxedoed boy was initially not ready to open his heart to us. Star is a perfect example of why we just don't give up on these sensitive cats; they are the ones who will bond most deeply with the ones who love them.Star might not be comfortable with you right away, but he's a super smart cat. Show up and let him know you're here when he's ready. He's started to accept new friendships and an offer of chicken or churu goes a long way. The very first time he lifts his face for you to pet and snorts in contentment, it's obvious he's been waiting to be loved again. Rubbing those soft, inviting cheeks all over you and wrapping a happy tail around your arm - it's going to make you feel some things. Is he your lucky star? He just might be! The Rescue is open 7 days a week for you to come and meet our pets! Walk-ins are welcome! In order to interact with them, you’ll need a simple questionnaire filled out. Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Star's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Star was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Star’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Star’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Star’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
