Meet Pistachio and Luz, the cutest tuxie duo! Pistachio and Luz are constant entertainment (when not napping, of course!) Luz is the bolder of the two, often exploring and getting into all kinds of harmless mischief. Pistachio is her shadow, a little more cautious than his sister, but equally endearing. The two are becoming more confident by the day. They are happy with other adult cats in the house (they’ve lately started mimicking the behaviors of the resident cats), and show no fear of dogs. Luz has piercing eyes that communicate a lot of cleverness. Pistachio has a funny second coat of fur that sticks up all over his body, reminiscent of a classic Webkinz plush. He’s a total doll. At this stage in their life, their perfect day consists of alternating naps and vigorous play. They love all kinds of toys, but they’re also happy to play with boxes, cardboard tubes, their own tails, and most importantly, each other. These cuties were born in late April on the streets of East New York, where a kind neighbor cared for them and then reached out to us. Pistachio and Luz are up to date on vaccines, free of fleas and parasites, and negative for FIV/FeLV. They will be spayed/neutered and microchipped in August. We will set up their spay/neuter through one of our partner vets, and the cost is included in their adoption fee. Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Luz and Pistachio's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Luz and Pistachio was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Luz and Pistachio’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Luz and Pistachio’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Luz and Pistachio’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
