About this Cat
Maisey was living outside in an abandoned church yard, an unsafe area near the road where her shelter kept getting thrown away, and she was in need of medical care. Maisey was trapped and taken to the Brooklyn Cat Cafe where she received a full extraction for her advanced dental issues, and was found to be already spayed so likely owned before and abandoned. She has been in foster for a few months with her foster's resident cats learning how to be an indoor cat and has been absolutely thriving. She has made great progress coming out of her shell and has even been learning to be playful. She now comes up and rubs against her foster's legs and purrs at being pet before meals, but still hides at times and scares easily. She would do best in a quiet home, with someone patient who could take things at a slow pace with her, be accepting of her past trauma and give her the best life she deserves! She is the cutest petite old lady learning how to play like a kitten, starting to feel safe around her foster, even pushing herself affectionately into one of the other resident cats who is twice her size when they are all waiting for their meal to be served. She initially hid while she got acclimated, and will hide if there is a stranger over, and will hiss as a reflex when she is surprised by sudden movements, but she has never shown aggression trying to swat or bite. She would do best in a quiet low traffic home with someone who can appreciate her background and be gentle and slow in their approach, not try to force interaction, and respect her boundaries. She has grown so much from hiding, to being out in the open, soliciting pets and purring, jumping on the bed instead of hiding under it, and being more playful. We are sure she will continue to grow more and more over time in the right environment with the right person! This cat can be adopted with a friend or as a single cat. This is a courtesy listing, meaning the cat(s) are being offered for adoption by a rescuer, rescue group, or individual unaffiliated with the Brooklyn Cat Cafe or Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition. As BBAWC has not evaluated the animal(s) we therefore cannot provide information on health or temperament. After we receive an application, we will connect you with the current caretaker of this cat.

Adopt Maisey and Receive Maisey's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Maisey's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Maisey's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Maisey, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Maisey's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Maisey was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Maisey’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Maisey’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Maisey’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
