About this Cat
Mushtaaq is a curious and affectionate cat. As soon as he came out of the carrier, he started exploring his new space without hesitation. Most of the time, he’s asleep on the stool or the couch. When he’s awake, he likes to follow his human around or rub against them for attention. He’s calm and easy to live with — he doesn’t bite, doesn’t knock things over, and vacuums don’t bother him. In fact, he seems to enjoy watching the Roomba do its thing. He’s also smart enough to know where his food is kept and occasionally tries to open the cabinet himself. Mushtaaq is (almost) learning to sit on command. He’s happy to let you pet or handle him—as long as you offer treats in return. Mushtaaq clearly has feelings for BLÅHAJ (the iconic Ikea shark plushie). We don’t ask questions. Note: BLÅHAJ is not up for adoption. At night, he likes to sit by the window and watch the world go by. Mushtaaq is a low-maintenance cat with a few funny quirks. He’d do well in a calm home with someone who enjoys quiet company and the occasional follow-around. This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home. This cat is FIV+ and will live a normal healthy and long life when provided with quality care such as a balanced diet and yearly wellness exams (like any cat). As FIV+ is not transmittable between neutered/spayed cats under normal circumstances, we are happy for FIV+ cats to mingle with FIV- cats in their adoptive homes.

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Mushtaaq's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Mushtaaq was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Mushtaaq’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Mushtaaq’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Mushtaaq’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
