TAYLA and JEWLS are sisters from one of the reservations we work with. They are sweet and playful. Tayla is larger/longer and very affectionate. She will come to you and want you to hug and hold her and she'll pur :-) She'll climb into your arms. Jewls is smaller and more independent. She also will come to you for petting. They prefer to come to you rather than you go to them. They are quite entertaining when they get into a playful mood - Jewls usually starts and runs around, then Tayla joins in. They are comfortable with friendly dogs. They've had some male cats pick on them, but have done very well with female cats. They came into the rescue, literally, in a bucket. Tayla needed ear surgery when she came into the rescue due to a large tumor. The surgery went well and even scars are unnoticeable. They make take a little to acclimate to your quiet family, but once they do, they are so very affectionate. The sisters are spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. They were born July 2019. We have specific adoption and Covid rules listed below. Revised adoption policyDue to Covid -19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, we've revised our adoption policy. First, please email ([email protected]) to inquire before you fill out the online application to see if the pet is still available. (Please do not call or text). We'll send you a link to the application. We are unable to do multi-dog/cat meetgreets or adoption events at this time or bring multiple animals to your house to choose from, so please only inquire if you're serious about adopting this particular animal. If you're just shopping around with several shelters and rescues, please let us know this. If your application is approved (which "could" take up to one week) then we will contact you to set up a Zoom chat or ph call to answer questions/clarify anything and set up a day/time to bring the pet to you. Since we can't come into the home due to Covid-19, we ask that you send us pics /video of your home/living area/current pets. We will discuss with you about meeting your other pets. At the meeting/adoption at your house (outside) please wear a mask (as will we), keep to a properly distanced social distance and have hand sanitizer. We will bring the pet to your door, we can chat from a (masked) distance and you bring the cat in the cat carrier into your house and probably into a prepared guest room. We will wait in the car while you get the kitty set up and possibly start getting aquainted (some cats will engage right away others will need more quiet time to observe/get acclimated). If everything goes well, you'll bring the carrier back out and sign the adoption contract. We like to stay in touch! We adopt locally to Central Abq, Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Rio Rancho. No out of area adoptions inquiries please. The animals are fostered and our foster families like to know their fosters are happy, healthy, and cared for during their lifetime. We appreciate staying in touch periodically (just a pic, holiday card, social media, pics/videos etc will make our work worthwhile :-)) Our volunteers and adoption board are working diligently with an overload of inquiries since Covid to match families and forever pets. Our workload on the reservations has also increased. We're sorry, but if you email us with questions that are already answered here or fill out an application that does not fit the parameters of our procedures we will not be replying to you. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and TAYLA & JEWLS sisters was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, TAYLA & JEWLS sisters’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the TAYLA & JEWLS sisters’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, TAYLA & JEWLS sisters’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
