About this Dog
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY FOR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS Meet Suzie – A Special Shih Tzu with a Heart Full of Love Suzie is a 3 year old, 15lb Shih Tzu who has overcome so much and is now ready to live the life she deserves. Rescued from a puppy mill, Suzie spent her early years being used for breeding—but no more babies for this girl! She’s now spayed, vaccinated, and soaking up love in her foster home. Suzie is a gentle soul who lives peacefully with two foster dog brothers (80 lbs and 40 lbs) and three cats. She’s a sweet, quiet companion who loves to be right by her foster mom’s side, she’s truly a little shadow who just wants to feel safe and close to her person. When Suzie was first rescued, she was severely matted and had to be groomed immediately. During that first grooming, it was discovered that all four of her paws are deformed, a birth defect confirmed by a vet, meaning she has no bone structure in her feet. But don't worry, Suzie doesn’t let it stop her! She gets around with a precious little waddle, and while she can’t take long walks, she enjoys romping in the grass or padding around on carpet. Suzie may have unique needs, but has endless love! She also receives two daily eye medications (one drop, one cream) due to past neglect. She’s a trooper with her meds and always stays calm during her care routine. Suzie is wee-wee pad trained and will also potty outside when given the chance. Suzie doesn’t drink water from a bowl or bottle (Sometimes you can catch her "sneaking" a sip from a water bowl.), but she stays hydrated through her wet or freeze-dried food mixed with extra water. She LOVES her meals and gets visibly excited when it’s time to eat! No Squeaky Toys, Please. Suzie does not like squeaky toys, the sound makes her panic, so a quiet and calm environment is best for her. Suzie's ideal home would be a calm, quiet environment where someone is home often to keep her company. She will need someone committed to continue her simple eye care and food routine. She would love a soft surface or grassy area to explore safely. Suzie is a beautiful example of resilience and trust. After everything she’s been through, she’s ready for a loving forever home where she can spend the rest of her days safe, adored, and pampered like she deserves. If you are ready to give Suzie the life she has always dreamed of and deserved, please go to petresqinc.org to fill out an adoption application. Questions will be answered once we have an application.

Adopt Suzie and Receive Suzie's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Suzie's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Suzie's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Suzie, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Suzie's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Suzie was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Suzie’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Suzie’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Suzie’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
