About this Dog
Maru is a sweet Black Mouth Cur Mix from Texas. Her true age is unknow due to her coming from a shelter, but she is around 4-5 years old right now. She has been with our family for the past 3 years. We unfortunately can not keep her any longer, due to having to downsize to a 1BR apartment. Maru is truly the sweetest-happiest babygirl I have ever known. She is very much a people person. However, she can get too excited. Maru has a little bit of a jumping on people issue. So anyone that would like to adopt her would need to understand, she needs more training. Maru does know basic commands (sit, stay, hand/paw, wait, fetch, etc.) Maru knows her commands in English and Vietnamese. She is a very very smart girl. Also, she is very food/treat driven. She loves walks, however she will also need proper training for walks, she is a puller. She loves going to the park. She can run and play fetch for hours. We also had cats and Maru does well with them. The cats would sometimes give her a little smack and Maru wouldn't do anything but get sad. She is such a good big sister as well. If the cats seemed like they were going to fight, she would come in between them and break it up. We also had a baby last year, and truthfully, Maru did amazing with the baby. However, she does get too excited sometimes. Maru always kisses the baby gently and watches out for the baby when the baby started walking. The baby has tugged on Maru's ear before a little to hard and Maru just pulled away and gave her a lick. One of the cats has even bitten Maru a little too hard during cuddles and Maru would just gently pull away or look at us for help. Maru would do best in a family that has children over 8 or has no children at all. She truly is a sweet sweet girl. It absolutely crushes my soul to give her away, but she deserves a lot of attention and a big yard to play in. Or a family that has the time to take her on long walks and give her long play time. She deserves the whole world.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Maru-chan was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Maru-chan’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Maru-chan’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Maru-chan’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
