Babs (and her sister Khloe) lived with the same owner for all of her 12 years. Her world was turned upside down when her owner had a stroke and could no longer care for her dogs. And as is the case way too often, no one in the family was in a position to take them into their home. So Babs and Khloe were on the hunt for a new life after having spent the last 2 years never leaving their home. Being the heroes that they are, Northstar stepped up for both girls. Babs is 12 years old with no known health issues at this time and she weighs only 10 lbs. So far we know that Babs doesn’t seem to be quite as food motivated as Khloe, although she never misses a meal. She will take treats from foster mom and when she came out of her crate this evening to eat, foster mom was able to pet her while she ate with no issues. She loves her walks and foster mom is working on socializing with people as she led a very sheltered life. Babs appears to be the more social of the two sisters at this moment. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Babs TX was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Babs TX’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Babs TX’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Babs TX’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
