About this Bird
Hatch date: 2020 Davey is a beautiful 3-year-old, DNA-tested Male Cockatiel. He is a sweet shy boy who is gaining more confidence daily while in foster. He is still very shy and timid, but he is still very young, so his forever home would need to be committed to work with him to grow him into a wonderful lifelong companion. He wants to trust, but just can't bring himself to yet He moves to the farthest rear of his cage, while his foster mom cleans his cage, as he is still fearful of hands.Davey is a lover of whistling his own tunes. He loves to sing, and will sit in the sunshine doing it to express his contentment He would thrive with other birds who willingly accept him. He has become comfortable around other birds while in his foster home and will engage in some light chatter, if the mood strikes him. Dogs do not frighten him, but hands asking to step up still do. This is currently and slowly a work in progress, and an adopter would have to be willing to continue to work to gain Davey's trust. Davey is held twice a day to introduce touching and handling - allows kisses and gentle petting - never biting. He is a very loving bird who simply needs time to gain all of his courage and learn to trust. He loves soft-spoken compliments and interaction. He thrives on attention and loves out-of-cage time. When it's time to rest, you'll find Davey on his swing or enthusiastically adoring his favorite toy. Davey is being fostered in Howell, NJ, and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance. We will NOT ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA - we do not have a central location. Davey is living in a volunteer's private home; we only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Davey, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org to read our adoption policies & procedures and to complete an adoption application.

Adopt Davey and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Davey's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Davey's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Davey, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Davey's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Davey was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Davey’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the Davey’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Davey’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
