About this Bird
Hatch Date: 2004 Finney is a lively 20-year-old male, a DNA-tested White-bellied Caique. He is an affectionate bird who loves spending time with his person. He seems to prefer a female caretaker. He enjoys hopping around, climbing, and playing his favorite “stick tricks,” where he spins in circles around his stick. He’s very social with his bonded person, which seems to be a female, and likes to be near them at all times—whether sitting on their hand, perching on their shoulder, or cuddling on their chest for snuggles and head rubs. He even follows you up the stairs when it’s time to go to his room. He loves to be hand-fed but will also eat independently from his perch. Finney has a big personality and a playful side—he loves to laugh and will sometimes run away from you just for fun when you’re trying to pick him up. He makes cute kissy sounds and gives kisses. He can be quite vocal when he doesn’t get enough attention or out-of-cage time. Typically, he’s out of his cage two to three times a day for 30 to 90 minutes. He has his quiet room with a large cage that stays open during the day so he can roam freely and look out the window. He is used to a calm environment with only two people, and he has bonded closely with the female of the household. He’s not accustomed to being around many people or other animals. He is not afraid of dogs, but he doesn’t get along with them, so a pet-free home would be ideal. Finney can become hormonal at times, which may lead to aggressive behavior. For this reason, his wings are clipped to help manage his activity. At times when he is more aggressive, it its better to give him space and handle him carefully with a stick or padded gloves. Finney would thrive in a quiet, stable home with someone who is around often and happy to spend lots of time with him. He’s full of character, charm, and love for the right companion. Finney is participating in our Help with Rehoming program and is still with his family in Rumson, NJ. He will only be adopted into a forever home within driving distance. We will NOT ship our birds. Visits are required before adoption can be completed For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. We do not have a central location. We only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Finney Please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org. Please read our adoption policies & procedures and complete an adoption application.

Adopt Finney and Receive Finney's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Finney's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Finney's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Finney, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Finney's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Finney was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Finney’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Finney’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Finney’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
