About this Horse
This big, beautiful mare came to Longmeadow during the fall of 2022 as an owner surrender. She had lived with her previous family for the majority of her life. We were told she spent her days being ridden around the farm. When they could no longer care for Altitude, she came to us.Altitude is currently riding at the walk, trot, and canter. She can be a bit anxious on the ground when away from her friends and will need a confident intermediate handler. Altitude is a lovely mover and when sheâs engaged with her handler, it is very clear that her potential is unlimited. She stands 16.1HH and is a hardy, stout Thoroughbred cross. Please note that Altitude will require a confident intermediate handler/rider at this time. She is not spooky. She is levelheaded under saddle and a joy to ride. She does prefer to be ridden in an indoor arena (outdoor or indoor) and lacks confidence when ridden outside of them.In the process of evaluating Altitude for riding in 2023, we discovered a large old injury to her right hindquarters. The injury is not obvious and was first discovered by one of our veterinarians when evaluating her hind end. He found old trauma to her muscles. She tracks slightly short on her RH when going to the right. Because her radiographs were normal, he suggested injecting her SI joint, which we did in April 2023. She has since improved. She may need a repeat injection in her SI but it has been well over a year and she hasn't needed it repeated. Her future adopter will need to monitor her comfort level.Currently Altitude does require front shoes, and we give her bute prior to her farrier visit. We believe she has learned to expect pain when a farrier would pick up her hind legs and unintentionally aggravate her SI joint. We want to make sure she is comfortable during the farrier visits. Height: 16.1HHAdoption Fee: $1,200Maximum Carrying Weight (tack plus rider): 250 lbs

Adopt ALTITUDE and Receive ALTITUDE's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, ALTITUDE's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is ALTITUDE's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the ALTITUDE, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming ALTITUDE's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and ALTITUDE was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, ALTITUDE’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the ALTITUDE’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, ALTITUDE’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
