About this Dog
This is Birdie. She is 3 years old and spayed. We rescued her 7 months ago. She is an incredibly sweet and cuddly dog and my wife and I have fallen head over heels for her. However, our living situation is not the best for her. She is reactive to children and less so to dogs. We have several kids in our life and our neighborhood is full of kids as well. We are hoping to find her an ADULT ONLY home with experienced dog owners and a fenced in yard without gaps in it. She has managed to get through one wood fence and one chain link fence so a secure fence is very necessary. She has gone through some basic obedience training that she has taken to really well (“free”, “kennel”, “leave it”, “place”) and could greatly benefit from additional training. Our trainer recommended a prong collar while on walks which was a game changer. She is very food motivates (kibble works in place of treats) and is a fast learner. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Birdie was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Birdie’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Birdie’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Birdie’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
