About this Dog
Hi there! My name is Grizzly. While it may seem like I have a big, tough name, I'm a very shy guy. I was originally seen wandering around with a companion in February. Sadly my companion was hit by a car. A nice person at the shelter tried to catch me, but I ran off. I traveled quite the distance and was found in another town by someone else. I'm very scared of people right now and I'm hoping the right person can help me come out of my shell. I will need a very secure fenced yard or leash walking as I can be quite the escape artist. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come.Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop

Adopt Grizzly and Receive Grizzly's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Grizzly's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Grizzly's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Grizzly, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Grizzly's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Grizzly was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Grizzly’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Grizzly’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Grizzly’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
