Dog adoption in Senatobia, MS, 38668 Pit bull Dog "Ella"

Hello, I have a sweet 9 year old pit mix named Ella who unfortunately needs to be removed from our home. We adopted her from the Collierville Animal Shelter in September 2026. At first, she got along well with all of our family members (myself, my husband, our teenage son, and our preteen daughter). Over time, she has developed some fear-based aggressive behavior toward certain males, and that includes my son. She also barks at the vacuum cleaner, step ladders, and lawn mowers because they scare her. She is visually impaired, and we suspect certain noises may trigger this fear response. She has not bitten my son, but she has "nipped" my brother-in-law when he got in her face, and a neighbor who she didn't know when he reached out to pet her head. She's never the aggressor, only reacting out of fear. I do worry that she will eventually bite or hurt my son. She has never once been aggressive with me, my husband, or my daughter. She has bonded deeply with the three of us and is the perfect dog when my son isn't home. I called the shelter where we got her, and they said if we bring her back, she'll be euthanized. I also spoke to my sister who happens to be Ella's veterinarian, and she sadly also recommended euthanasia. We are desperate for a better outcome. My daughter Emily is Ella's "person," and she'll be devastated if we have to put her down. She'll be very sad also if we re-home her, but I think she'll cope with that much better.
