Thelma might be little, but she’s got big ideas. She’s sweet, gentle, and full of love—but don’t be fooled, she’s also the mastermind behind the great puppy pen escape. Her sister Louise is often left behind wondering what just happened while Thelma trotted off, proud and pleased with herself. She and Louise were found dumped in a truck yard, and while we don’t know anything about their life before that, Thelma’s already shown us who she is: smart, playful, and determined. She loves food puzzles (though they don’t last long), enjoys being around people and other dogs, and genuinely wants to make her humans happy. She learns quickly—faster than her sister, actually—and she’s fun to watch when her little brain gets going. She’ll need the usual puppy training: potty habits, basic obedience, and some help learning how to channel all that cleverness into good choices. She barks a bit when she’s excited for meals or mid-play, and she may whine briefly when left alone, but settles down quickly. If there are kids in the home, older is better—she’s got typical puppy energy and could be a bit much for toddlers. Same goes for dogs: she’s great with them, but she plays up close and personal, so her new dog sibling should be okay with that. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Thelma was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Thelma’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Thelma’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Thelma’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
