About this Cat
UPDATE: Peepers does not have to wear diapers when he is on a raw diet. His stools are firm, and no mess is made. Peepers has been leaving his backend alone now. He certainly can wear diapers if preferred as he occasionally plays hard enough to squeeze out a small, dry, odorless turd. Otherwise Peepers is good at heading to the litterbox and depositing them there. He just doesn't have a sphincter to prevent play from squeezing an occasional turd out. We consider his diapers an easy option for the dear boy. Peepers is an amazing young man, one year old, who arrived in our care as a tiny kitten with anal atresia due to trauma (cockleburs). Unfortunately, the first surgeon didn't recognize his condition and expanded his fistula. The next surgical team combined the original anus and the fistula by cutting through the anal sphincter. That means that Peepers doesn't have a functional anal sphincter. But given our main goal was to give him a functional "poop chute" we are happy with the outcome. Peepers does take a twice daily medication. He runs and plays and loves to chase and rumble with other felines. He's comfortable with our resident dog. Peepers does tend to bond to one person, but he did fabulously well with all his vet visits and staff fell in love with him. Peepers has been neutered and vaccinated against rabies and distemper. He tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Peepers is available for adoption for $50 (our rescue survives on donations). Peepers is NOT declawed. Please note that Peepers is located in New Prague, MN. 1700+ adoptions and counting. . .
