Meet Barney - Pocket-Sized Fluff, Professional Snuggler, and Part-Time Zoomie Artist Don’t let his 5-pound frame fool you—Barney is a whole lot of love in one tiny, fluffy package. Equal parts cuddlebug and burst-of-energy enthusiast, Barney is the kind of dog who’ll sprint across the room in a joyful blur one minute and melt into your arms like a sleepy marshmallow the next. Barney is happiest when he’s surrounded by his favorite things: people, other small pups, and you guessed it more people. He doesn’t need a dog sibling, but if his humans are gone too long, his tiny heart gets a little too lonely. So, a home where someone is around most of the time is his dream come true (bonus points if you work from home and can share your lap). He’s working hard on his potty-training skills—he’s getting close! Especially if kept on a good schedule, this little guy is a quick learner. He sleeps like an angel in his crate at night and rarely has accidents there. Stairs? Still a mystery. But why would he climb stairs when he can be carried like royalty? Barney gets along well with all humans (big and small), adores his pint-sized pup friends, and is gentle and affectionate with everyone he meets. He’s leash-trained, not a flight risk, and always down for a walk followed by a deluxe nap session in a warm blanket cocoon. In short, Barney is a sweet, loyal, Velcro dog who just wants to be by your side, offering unconditional love, tail wags, and the occasional zoomie show. If you’re looking for a tiny best friend who will follow you to the ends of the earth (or at least to the kitchen), Barney is ready to be your shadow and your snuggle buddy for life. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Barney's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Barney was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Barney’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Barney’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Barney’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
