About this Dog
If cuddling were an Olympic sport, Velvet would take the gold, then politely ask if she can sit in your lap during the medal ceremony.Velvet (aka Velcro Velvet) is a 4-year-old, 61-pound pit bull who is equal parts snuggle bug and yard-lounging queen. She was VERY stressed and overwhelmed in the shelter environment, so sheâs been decompressing in a loving foster home where her sweet, silly, affectionate personality is shining. Her favorite thing in the world? You. Followed closely by car rides, soft blankets, and being told sheâs a very good girl (which she is).Velvet is medium energy, house trained, and sleeps soundly in her crate overnight - though sheâs not a fan of daytime crating and would likely be fine left loose at home. Sheâs perceptive and gentle, greets people (and even kids) politely on walks, and gets adorably excited when she sees other dogs. She hasnât had any direct dog introductions yet, but her body language says âparty time,â not âproblem.âShe pulls on leash but is making big improvements with a Gentle Leader. She's not super treat motivated (in fact, sheâs still trying to figure out what treats are) but she lives for praise. Tell her sheâs a good girl and sheâll give you full-body wiggles, tail swishes, and a look that could melt steel.Velvet would thrive in a home where someone is around often to give her the constant cuddles she craves. Sheâd prefer older kids who wonât get knocked over by her enthusiastic affection, and sheâs excited to keep learning the ropes of being a spoiled indoor dog.Her past may not have been perfect, but Velvetâs future is looking soft, cozy, and full of love, just the way she likes it.
Contribute to VELVET's Stash!

100% of VELVET's balance will be sent to whoever adopts VELVET.
Adopt VELVET and Receive VELVET's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, VELVET's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is VELVET's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the VELVET, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming VELVET's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and VELVET was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, VELVET’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the VELVET’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, VELVET’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
