About this Dog
Looking for a low-maintenance lady who’s equal parts soulful eyes and stubborn snack-seeking? Meet Lucie (aka Gracie): a sweet, seasoned Lab with a heart of gold and a passion for… well, mealtime. At around 10 years young and 48 pounds of slow-motion elegance, Lucie is the queen of chill. Found as a stray in Arkansas, she’s now living the good life in foster care—rebuilding her strength, taking leisurely strolls (about a mile and a half, thank you very much), and working on her PhD in Couch Snuggling (she's currently a grad student in "Getting Comfortable Being Loved"). Lucie comes with a few gentle reminders of her past: she has arthritis and is heartworm positive, so she’s looking for a calm, caring human to continue helping her get stronger and feel safe. She’s also not totally sure what to do with noises (unless it’s another dog—then she’s ready for a rousing game of Barko Polo). Because of those achy joints, her favorite type of home is one with minimal or no stairs. You see, Lucie is firmly on team "ramps and rugs" not on the "mountain goat training program". A couple steps? Ok. A full staircase? Hard pass. She lives for food, does her business outside like a proper lady, and has recently discovered the wonders of the snuffle mat. No drama here—Lucie doesn’t bark, doesn’t leap, and doesn’t care what’s trending. She’s all about soft beds, slow walks, and quiet companionship. Lucie is crate trained, good with respectful kids and dogs, and fine with cats. She doesn’t need a fenced yard, but she will need someone patient and kind who understands that healing—of both body and heart—takes time. Lucie’s not looking for a whirlwind romance—just a cozy, loving home with someone who believes in second chances, daily snacks, and the magic of an old dog’s love. And, if you're all about the sweetest, most gentle soul and slowest moving heartthrob to be your shadow, Lucie will be waiting. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Adopt Lucie and Receive Lucie's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Lucie's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Lucie's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Lucie, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Lucie's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Lucie was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Lucie’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Lucie’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Lucie’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
