About this Dog
Howdy, partner! The name’s Sheriff, and I’m here to lay down the law on cuddles, snacks, and squeaky toys. I’m a young Chihuahua mix with a mighty heart packed into a perfectly portable 12-pound frame. Think of me as your loyal deputy, always by your side, ready for snuggles, playtime, or just keeping an eye on the snack situation. I can be a little shy when we first meet—gotta assess the scene like any good Sheriff—but once I know you're safe (and maybe carrying a treat), I warm up fast. After that, I’m all about being your shadow. Couch time? I’m there. Toy time? Let’s do it. Nap time? Say no more. I’m totally potty trained (strictly outdoor business, thank you very much), and I’m working on mastering the crate. I may whine a little at first, but I settle in quickly. I know a few solid commands—sit, stay, come, and leave it—because hey, I aim to please. I’ve got a great appetite and I live for mealtime. My tail basically turns into a propeller when I hear that kibble hit the bowl. I get along great with small dogs (love to run and wrestle with my foster siblings), and I could fly solo as long as my humans are around a lot. I haven’t met any cats yet, but I’m open to a proper introduction. My signature move? When I get excited, I flash this goofy little grin—teeth and all—paired with the most joyful wiggle butt you’ve ever seen. It’s basically impossible not to fall in love. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, affectionate little dude who’s always ready for snuggles, laughs, and loyal companionship, I think we’ve got ourselves a match. So… what do you say, partner? Ready to ride off into the sunset together? Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***
Contribute to Sheriff's Stash!

100% of Sheriff's balance will be sent to whoever adopts Sheriff.
Adopt Sheriff and Receive Sheriff's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Sheriff's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Sheriff's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Sheriff, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Sheriff's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Sheriff was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Sheriff’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Sheriff’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Sheriff’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
