About this Dog
Meet Pumpkin! This adorable 3-year-old Norwegian Elkhound is as sweet as her name suggests! Pumpkin may be a bit skittish, often choosing to run and hide in her cozy kennel or freeze in place when startled. But don't let her shy demeanor fool you; once you start petting her, she melts into a puddle of joy, relishing the gentle affection. As a breed, Norwegian Elkhounds are known for their loyalty and affectionate nature, and Pumpkin embodies this perfectly. She's on a journey of building confidence and is slowly exploring her surroundings, making her brave little discoveries along the way. A calm and patient home is essential for her, as loud noises and quick movements can send her scurrying back to her safe haven. Pumpkin has a heart of gold and a gentle spirit. She loves grooming sessions, sitting still as you brush her soft fur and shower her with compliments about being a beautiful girl. She's great with other dogs and would really benefit from having a canine companion to help her embrace her doggy side. Though she's typically quiet, Pumpkin thrives on routine and is currently working on her kennel training. She knows her kennel is her safe space and appreciates the structure it provides. Pumpkin is also making strides in potty training and enjoys spending time outside, so a secure fenced yard is a must for her adventures. With a little love and patience, this sweet girl will surely blossom into the confident companion she’s meant to be. Could you be the kind-hearted home that Pumpkin has been waiting for? Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***

Adopt Pumpkin and Receive Pumpkin's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Pumpkin's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Pumpkin's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Pumpkin, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Pumpkin's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Pumpkin was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Pumpkin’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Pumpkin’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Pumpkin’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
