About this Dog
Meet Daniel the Spaniel, also known as Danny! This super sweet Cocker Spaniel mix was born approximately June 2024, and he still has a lot of puppy in him! He spent some time in a shelter and is still learning about life, including needing some reminders about house training. The one thing Danny wants more than anything else is constant attention and snuggles! He does not like to be separated from his person/people. He is very friendly with all people and other dogs, but he has never met a cat. As you can see in the picture, Danny has a condition called "cherry eye," where glands in his lower eyelids have become exposed. This condition is corrected surgically, and Danny is already scheduled for that surgery at the end of July. He would love to go right to his new home after surgery recovery, and he will be even cuter than he is already! Daniel is looking for a home where at least one person is home much of the time. He barks a lot when his person leaves, so he will not be a candidate for housing with shared walls. Much of this barking behavior appears to come from uncertainty - Danny has experienced a lot of change recently and he just wants reassurance that he is loved! It is possible that he will feel safer once he realizes that he has a home, and the barking may decrease over time. His forever home should consider working with a trainer to prevent worsening separation anxiety. Like most spaniels, Danny needs regular grooming. He is very tolerant of handling for grooming at home or with a groomer, including nail trims. Danny will make a very loving (okay, clingy!) companion for someone! All he needs is a lap and he is happy with life, though he never says no to treats and toys either!
