About this Dog
Meet Wilbur (aka Jack) – a distinguished gentleman in search of his perfect retirement home. Wilbur's journey took an unexpected turn when he found himself in a shelter. We may never know why, but we do know one thing: he didn’t belong there. The noise and chaos overwhelmed him, so he was welcomed into the comfort of a loving foster home where he's finally able to relax and be himself. Now, let’s be honest—Wilbur isn’t a young pup full of wild zoomies and mischief. He’s past that stage of life. But what he lacks in energy, he more than makes up for in wisdom, calm companionship, and an unshakable appreciation for the simple things: a soft bed, a kind voice, and a gentle hand. Wilbur enjoys short strolls where he can sniff to his heart’s content and take in all the wonderful smells the world has to offer. It’s one of his favorite parts of the day. There are a couple of things Wilbur is still working through. He isn’t suited for shared-wall living, as he does bark—especially when left alone. Crating is also not an option for him, as it causes a great deal of stress. What he needs is a peaceful, patient home where someone is often around, and he can be part of the daily rhythm of life. He hasn't met a cat yet but does well with same energy dogs. He tends to get upset with playful young dogs, but hey they are like energizer rabbits sometimes! His potty training is going well. He does wear a belly band as he hasn't perfected it to an A+ yet. Wilbur is ready to give that kind of quiet, loyal love to someone who sees his worth. He may not be young, but his heart is full, and he’s got plenty of love left to give. Are you the soft landing he’s been waiting for?
