About this Dog
This beautiful senior was abandoned by his owner but he is one lucky boy in that he was taken to the right place at the right time where someone with rescue contacts met him, heard his story, and posted out for rescue help for him. One of our adopters saw the post and reached out to connect everyone and with HUGE thanks to foster and driving help offers, within about 24 hours, Brutus was in his foster home. 5/25 UPDATE: Brutus received all of his needed routine vetting. His blood work looked great but his thyroid level was a little low so he has started on medication for that. He has also started on medication for arthritis in his hips and back legs. He is the cutest and sweetest boy who loves everyone and makes friends everywhere he goes. And yesterday he went to his Minnesota foster family!6/24 UPDATE FROM BRUTUS' FOSTER MOM: I want to take a few minutes and tell you what we have learned about Brutus since he has been with us as a foster pooch. He's 12 yrs old - 1st we know that 12 is a good old age for any boxer. What does a person expect from a pooch that old? Well, Brutus continues to surprise us. He is a healthy pooch. He takes Rimadyl daily for old age aches, which are only noticeable when he goes to lay down. He also takes thyroid medicine because his level was slightly low, but he did not act like a dog with low thyroid. He bounds up and down the stairs and launches himself on the bed. He loves going on walks and meeting all kinds of people, all shapes and sizes, adults, teens and littles. He's a gentle soul with all. He loves a good butt scratch. He is picky about where he does his business, the taller the grass or brush the better. He is often looking back to make sure you are still with him. He's not a big sniffer, but if he catches a scent, he is on it and wants to follow it. He does not react to other dogs, cats or bunnies. A loud, unexpected noise, inside the house or outside will startle him. Reassurance from his people is all he needs. He loves his people. He wants to be by them or know where they are. When he wants attention he will nudge your hand or simply place his head on your knee. It's adorable. He is housetrained, but does not use a kennel. He doesn't play with toys or chew on anything. He thinks our small backyard, no grass, is ok. He's not a sun worshipper. He seems to enjoy sitting out front more because there are people passing by and more things to watch. We don't feel like he would leave the yard for any reason, but he is always leashed since there is no fence out front. He is spunky - when you come back from the garage or store he is so happy to see you! Wiggles, kidney bean, butt in the air, front down, boxer paws boxing, heart spilling, love explosion everywhere Brutus is a wonderful dog! He would be an amazing addition to any family or be exactly what a person may need in having a companion in their home.

Adopt Brutus and Receive Brutus's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Brutus's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Brutus's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Brutus, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Brutus's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Brutus was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Brutus’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Brutus’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Brutus’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
