About this Cat
Ranger and Ryleigh are a 6-month-old brother and sister pair. They are very attached to one another. They have previously lived happily with cats, dogs and children. Here's what their foster human has to say about them: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Both kittens are sweet, friendly, playful babies who love each other and people! Ryleigh is a confident, curious girl who will stick her nose in just about anything! Ranger is a cautious but incredibly affectionate boy who will do anything for pets. They are full of energy and love, and will play nonstop for hours then cuddle up with you on the couch for a nap. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Absolutely!! If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Everywhere for both! Does the cat come on your lap? yes! Does the cat like to be held? Yes! both of them love to be held like babies, they will fall asleep while you pet their chins and bellies! Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, not usually. Ryleigh sleeps under the couch (not hiding, just cozy!) but comes out to see me whenever I wake up, and Ranger usually sleeps in a cat bed or the cat tree. i’m sure they would love to sleep in a bed, though, they just aren’t confident enough to jump up there yet! Does the cat seek your attention? Yes! They are a great pair because they always want human attention, but when you’re busy they can entertain each other too. Does the cat like to play? Yes! What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Both kitties love a fishing pole toy and will go crazy for it, taking turns hunting it. Ryleigh especially loves crinkly toys that make a noise or spring toys, and Ranger especially loves catnip toys. Ryleigh has also recently decided that her carrier is the coolest toy ever. How vocal is the cat? They’re quiet. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? They will make a noise to find each other every once in a while when they are nervous or in need of cuddles, and very occasionally will meow to me if they lost me or want something. The loudest thing about them is their nonstop purrs! Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes, they love to scratch a scratcher! They have not scratched anything else. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yup! Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Very occasionally if they get playful during a belly rub. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? They are nervous at first, usually going to hide together. After a bit of time, they might come out to say hi. If someone approaches them while they’re hiding, they will eventually come out and ask for pets. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? They are super silly with each other and will wrestle and play together all day long! They also both roll over and ask for belly rubs, especially Ranger . Sometimes Ryleigh does it but doesn’t want a belly rub, just wants other pets. They also are so comfortable with each other that they often aren’t very aware of their personal space. They will sometimes eat criss-crossed over each other, or fall asleep on top of each other. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? There’s nothing not to love about these two! They are high energy but cuddly, friendly, and absolutely adorable. They entertain themselves enough that they don’t mind staying home alone here and there, and they are super easy to handle! They are just perfect cats who want to be your best friend. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Considering this has been their first time away from mom, they were very scared at first. They hid for just under a week in a safe spot, and I kept them in a safe separate room for the first four days which helped them a lot with their confidence. Ranger also gets a lot of his confidence from Ryleigh, who is a lot more curious and likely to come out to check you out. As typical kittens, they are very curious and can get into trouble without proper kitten-proofing. I have hidden electrical cords, only allowed string or fishing pole toys with supervision, blocked off dangerous hiding spots, and made sure to put away anything they shouldn’t chew or eat. They have done great so far, but definitely need to be treated like the babies they are!
