Meet Ava! Ava is a beautiful, submissive Rottweiler who’s learning what love and kindness truly feel like. Rescued from a rural shelter in central Texas, Ava spent her early years being used for breeding and living in a garage. She came from a neglectful situation—shockingly, at the hands of a former police officer—and is now beginning her journey toward healing. Now in foster care on Martha’s Vineyard, Ava is truly coming out of her shell. She loves getting the zoomies and finally getting to be a happy, loved girl. She’s doing great with potty training—accidents are few and far between—and she’s thriving in a home environment. Ava adores her foster siblings, including two Rottweilers and a tiny Chihuahua, and she’s incredibly gentle with all of them. She’s shown no prey drive toward the chickens or the farm animals around her, making her a great fit for a rural or farm setting. Despite her past, Ava is sweet and eager to please. She’s great with dogs of all sizes and has done well with cats. She’s very submissive, with no signs of fear aggression—just a kind soul who needs patience and encouragement as she continues learning to trust. Ava is crate trained and will do best in a calm, reassuring home where she can continue to build on her confidence, feel safe, and enjoy her happy, silly zoomie time. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Ava was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Ava’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Ava’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Ava’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
