About this Dog
Name: Hera Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 12 weeks old (as of 7/27/25) Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd Mix Weight: About 11 lbs (as of 7/27/25) Lives With: Dogs, cats and people! Puppies are in the prime of socialization. Housebroken? She’s working on her potty training and making great progress! Story: Hera was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina with 6 littermates. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Hera is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. She knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with her humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Hera is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Hera will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Hera is a happy, healthy, and affectionate puppy. She is easygoing, loves to explore in the backyard, and enjoys quiet times curled up on the couch or in a pile of blankets on the floor. Hera is a cautious pup. Before trying something new she is happy to let her sister go first. If her sister comes out unscathed, she’s ready to jump right in and give it a try. She gets along with cats and other dogs. Play fighting with the other pets in the house is her favorite activity. Hera sleeps in her crate at night and for naps during the day. She is working on house training. She is smart and food-motivated and should do very well in puppy training classes. The fee to adopt Hera is $475. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in her foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines.
