About this Dog
Name: Pepper Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 5.5 months old (as of 7/1/25) Best Guess for Breed: Lab Mix Weight: About 38 lbs (as of 7/5/25) Lives With: Dogs, cats and people! Housebroken? Yes, she’s potty trained! Story: Pepper was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Pepper is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. She knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with her humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Pepper is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Pepper will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Pepper is a very good girl - a happy-go-lucky pup who enjoys walks, looking for bugs and rocks, and snuggling with her human! She is very smart and picked up on my cues and routines quickly - she sits while I serve my dog and waits patiently for her food. She’s potty trained and will go to the door when she needs to go outside. She sleeps every night all night long (10pm-6am) in a crate in my bedroom and does well in the crate when we’re not home. Pepper loves long walks! We walked at least 5 miles every day, often meeting up with a friend and their dog. Pepper was in heaven walking through wooded trails and having a buddy. She is the very best companion to take on a hike! She is wonderful in the car. She is hesitant about getting in, but she settles quickly and is a quiet passenger. She loves to cuddle on the couch next to her person. She loves the attention of kids and did well with my two (ages 14 and 11). She’ll make her future family very happy! The fee to adopt Pepper is $475. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, her spay, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in her foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. If you think that Pepper might be your perfect match, apply today!

Adopt PEPPER and Receive PEPPER's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, PEPPER's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is PEPPER's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the PEPPER, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming PEPPER's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and PEPPER was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, PEPPER’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the PEPPER’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, PEPPER’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
