About this Dog
CHONK IS A COURTESY POST - IF INTERESTED, EMAIL INFO@PETEY&FURENDS.ORG Name: Chonk Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 3 years old Best Guess for Breed: Mixed Breed Shepherd Weight: About 57 lbs Good With: Dogs and people. He’s do best in a home without cats. Story: Chonk was rescued from a shelter in Newport News, VA. Chonk is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Chonk is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Even though Chonk is no longer a puppy, he will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! CHONK'S PERFECT MATCH: PERFECT FAMILY: A home with 1 or more adults, the more the merrier! A dog friend would be great as well. Chonk doesn't have much experience with kids but seems to be fine with them, older kids would be best, he doesn't understand he is not a small dog and may step on or knock over small children. NO CATS, he is just far too "interested" in them. Chonk loves people, he is occasionally skittish around new people but has mostly gotten over that and he continues to improve. He wants to be with his people all the time and has some anxiety when left, but another dog seems to help him do ok with it. PERFECT HOME: A home with people who are around a lot. Someone who works from home and needs a buddy to keep them company while they work would be a great match. EXERCISE NEEDS: Chonk loves to play and wrestle with other dogs, he also loves going on a walk every day. We use a gentle leader with him since he pulls and is strong. He is very trainable and should be able to be trained out of pulling if you take the time. If you want a dog that will run with you he would probably enjoy/do well with that! BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Chonk ADORES his people, if you are working he will curl up near you and nap. He loves to have his head pet and scratched and will chill out for as long as you are willing to pet him. He loves to cuddle up on the couch or in bed while you watch TV or read. He can be a goofball and is super sweet. He will do anything for food! He is very food driven which makes him trainable. He will also occasionally get into the trash and eat things he shouldn't so keep lids on all trash cans and anything that smells like it could be food should be kept out of reach. CRATE: Chonk is crate trained and will sleep there at night if that is what you prefer. However, he can get out of crates if he is left alone. We have a wire crate and he has managed to get out of it repeatedly. If you want him to stay in a crate while you are gone, it will have to be heavy duty. He does fine if left out with our other dog when we leave the house though, so we only use the crate at night. If you think that Chonk might be your perfect match, please email [email protected].

Adopt CHONK and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, CHONK's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is CHONK's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the CHONK, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming CHONK's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and CHONK was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, CHONK’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the CHONK’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, CHONK’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
