About this Dog
Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization or individual. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her. Finley is a sweet, sensitive American Eskimo with a calm, quiet personality. He is very gentle and loving once he feels safe, and prefers a stable home environment with a predictable routine. His favorite things include being near his trusted person, soft beds, and finding quiet corners to relax in. He enjoys walks and does beautifully on a leash he stays close and checks in often. He is not overly playful with toys but enjoys gentle affection. He is not a lap dog exactly, but he does love to be near his person. Once he bonds, he will quietly follow you from room to room just to stay close. He tends to be more comfortable with women but has also done well with calm, patient men. Finley would do best as the only dog in the home, or possibly with one other gentle, low-energy animal companion. He gets overwhelmed by loud or high-energy dogs and environments. He is crate trained, respectful in the home, and has no destructive behaviors when left alone. A fenced yard would be ideal but not required if he is regularly walked. Finley is timid with new people and places and takes time to warm up. He may bark or hide when nervous but is not aggressive. He just needs time, patience, and a calm presence to feel safe. Finley knows, sit, shake, speak. He likes to sleep under the bed but would welcome a bed if wanted. He does like to perch on the back of the couch to guard the front door and wait for his people to come home. He gets nervous when his routine is broken and may have an accident inside but is fully housebroken and will sit by the back door to wait to be let out. Finley is not just looking for a new home—he’s looking for his final chapter. He’s a quiet, tender-hearted boy who thrives in calm, steady environments. The ideal home would have a gentle rhythm—whether that’s with older adults or a mindful family with children who understand how to be soft and respectful with animals. Finley is comfortable around children and busy homes as long as the energy isn’t chaotic. Loud noises, unpredictable routines, or constant adrenaline wear on his nervous system. What he truly needs is a home that feels peaceful—even if it’s full. He enjoys treats, cozy corners, and kind voices. He needs someone who will honor his pace, understand his softness, and give him the emotional security of knowing what to expect each day. This decision is being made with great care, and only thoughtful, loving adopters will be considered. We’re not rushing— he’s a good boy and we’re looking for the one who feels like home.
