About this Dog
Marge is 2yo, weighs 15lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped. She graduated a basic obedience class in January 2024 and knows 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'go to your bed', and 'touch'. Marge's guardian adds: "We have had marge for 6 months. The shelter did not know much about her past. She seems to have experienced trauma by her fearful/reactive behavior. However, she is very special and sweet and we love her dearly so this has been a heartbreaking decision. She does pretty well with our other dog but it seems like she would prefer to be an only dog. They coexist sometimes but get into scary fights and seem tense often. She is very afraid of new people but warms up quickly when the environment is calm and cozy. New people should not attempt to pick her up or reach towards her as she will nip. She HATES car rides more than anything. Our vet recommended that she see a behaviorist alongside medication (She is currently on Prozac.), however we can't afford a behaviorist so we hope she can go to her forever home that will be able to afford to give her the care and stress free environment that she needs and deserves to find peace. She is happiest when she is in a quiet room, cuddled up with you or chasing her favorite ball. She is a HUGE cuddle bug and will lay in your lap for hours. She graduated a basic obedience class and is crate trained." Marge's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her: Marge is VERY anxious and afraid of basically everything. She's quite triggered by sound and will bark non stop. We live in an old apartment building where sound carries throughout the entire building, so its noisy (our neighbors can also hear HER, not great). We've tried pretty much everything we can afford and nothing changes it, so unfortunately it feels like this environment isn't great for her and she would prefer to be an only dog with a mostly sedentary and calm person/family." Bite/scratch incident: On 13 March 2024, Marge bit and scratched her guardian's partner; the bite broke the skin, but animal control was not involved. Mzrge's guardian explains: "Our dogs were fighting and my partner reached to split it up and she redirected her bite at him. No medical attention required." Marge's guardian offers a brief a medical history: "She is on 10mg Prozac." Marge's guardian states the following regarding children: Marge hasn't lived with children, and has never been around young children, but her guardian recommends her living with older children, stating "She has never been around young children but is unpredictable sometimes. She LOVES our teenage niece and nephew and is incredibly gentle and kind with them". Marge's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Although Marge lives with a dog, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "Marge is unpredictable with other dogs. Sometimes she is very excited, sometimes she's aggressive". Marge's guardian states the following regarding cats: Marge hasn't lived with or otherwise been around cats, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats. Marge's guardian describes her as: Couch potato Barks alot Playful Shy Likes to be touched Affectionate Fearful Always at your side Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men and women Marge's guardian describes her ideal future home: "Marge's ideal home is not an apartment. It's quiet and calm with a fenced in yard for her to fetch her favorite ball in. Her ideal family is one person or a couple who spends a decent amount of time at home. She is happiest when she's cuddled up in your lap or under a blanket. She also feels very safe in her crate. Ideally her forever home is able to invest in a behaviorist and her anxiety medication if these issues persist." Rehoming Fee: $25 Location: Baltimore, MD
