About this Dog

Moon was fostered in DC with a resident dog before I adopted her into my city apartment. Being the only dog in my home, plus the heavy traffic, construction, and lots of passing dogs is just too overwhelming for her reactivity when we are outside for walks and exercise. This location isn't setting her up to succeed. Indoors, she is an absolute dream. She is house trained, never barks inside even when dogs bark outside our door, and I do not crate her while I am out. She is completely non-destructive and only touches her own toys, bones, and stuffies and will bring you toys she is so proud to show you and share. She loves playing tug and is one of the most affectionate, loving dogs you’ll ever meet. She is a true cuddle bug. She has never shown a bit of aggression, even when excited. Outdoors, she is working through leash reactivity. She has made progress with 1:1 training, but given her size-especially compared to my very small stature- she needs an adopter who is comfortable managing her strength on walks and continuing her training. She barks at other dogs because she wants to greet them. Ideally, she would thrive with either or both a confident resident dog to guide her along with a bit less chaotic and more low key environment.

How will Moon receive the contribution?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Moon, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Moon's contribution here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Moon was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Moon’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Moon’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Moon’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
