About this Dog
Courtesy post Meet Koda! This stunning boy was found roaming the streets of Bowie, MD in mid-March and was rescued by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan. Despite efforts to locate his original owner—including outreach on Nextdoor, Facebook, local shelters, and lost & found sites—no one came forward. Recognizing what a special pup he is, several generous families stepped in to foster him. While they couldn't commit long-term due to personal circumstances, each helped Koda adjust, thrive, and show his true, wonderful personality. Named Koda by his fosters, this handsome guy is around 2 years old and believed to be a German Shepherd/Husky mix—often called a Shepsky. He’s a real head-turner with one striking blue eye and one unique eye that's part blue, part brown. Koda is energetic, affectionate, and playful. He loves chasing a ball, going for walks, and snuggling on the couch. He’ll greet your mornings with kisses and cuddle time. Loyal and protective, he’s a classic alpha male who loves his people deeply. Koda is dog-friendly but needs slow introductions—his excitement can be a bit much for calmer or older dogs. He currently lives with a senior pup, but his enthusiasm can overwhelm his older housemate. He may do best as the only pet or with a dog that matches his energy level. No cats, please—his prey drive is too high. Koda is well-behaved in the home—he doesn’t chew on furniture or shoes and has been left uncrated for up to 8 hours with no issues. He’s been crated before but isn’t a fan, so a crate-free home may be ideal. He tends to bond more quickly with women and can be wary of men at first, but don’t let that deter you—it’s all about approach and patience. With time to decompress and a gentle introduction, he’ll become your most loyal companion. Koda thrives with regular exercise and playtime. He loves watermelon, carrots, and broccoli—yes, he’s a healthy snacker too! 100% of Koda's balance will be sent to whoever adopts Koda.
Adopt Koda and Receive Koda's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Koda's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Koda's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Koda, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Koda's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Koda was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Koda’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Koda’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Koda’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
