About this Dog
Dezi is a 55-pound, 8-year-old Chow Chow with a big heart and an even bigger mane! This handsome guy was originally owned by a veteran who loved him deeply but can no longer care for him due to health reasons. I stepped in temporarily to help, but unfortunately, my allergies make it impossible for me to keep him long-term. Now Dezi is looking for his next (and hopefully forever) home. Dezi has spent most of his life as the only pet and tends to enjoy a peaceful, low-animal household. Like many chows, he’s independent and dignified but has a sweet and social side with his humans once he trusts you. He’s not neutered, and while he’s mostly a mellow homebody, he can be reactive around other dogs—especially if they’re too forward. He’s not a fan of cats at all, so a cat-free home is a must. That said, within the boundaries of his breed personality, Dezi is a little social guy! He likes meeting new people (on his terms) and will happily lounge near you, soaking up attention once he feels safe. Dezi would thrive in a calm home with someone experienced with the breed (or willing to learn), where he can be the only pet and live out his senior years with love, patience, and respect for his personality. If you’re looking for a loyal, fluffy companion who just wants a quiet home and a human or two to call his own, Dezi might be your guy.

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Dezi's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Dezi was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Dezi’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Dezi’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Dezi’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
